Mission Overview

'Vengeance Is Mine' is one of the most difficult and lengthy missions in The Beast to date. It will thoroughly test your stealth, parkour, and combat abilities. This mission not only opens with one of the longest parkour sequences in the game, but is also packed with powerful enemies. If you value your experience, stealth will be a necessary skill. In short, if you're not the type to lower the difficulty, this mission will force you to become stronger. This guide aims to help you get through it.
Mission Overview

Talk to the Sheriff and Enter the Mine

After accepting the mission, once you reach the parking lot, prepare for one of the biggest climbs of your life - you need to climb that massive hill in front of you. Fortunately, all ledges are marked with white paint, making them easy to find on the hillside. Before starting the climb, make sure to scavenge fuel from the surrounding vehicles. Then climb onto the small fence and begin your ascent to the summit.
Talk to the Sheriff and Enter the Mine

Reach the Summit

The climb is straightforward - just follow the white-painted ledges up the mountain. Take your time and watch your stamina. The path is clearly marked, so you won't get lost. Just keep climbing upward until you reach the top.
Reach the Summit

Clear the Mine Entrance

After meeting the Sheriff at the summit, you need to deal with the Baron's men and enter the mine. The crucial point here is that you MUST use stealth to take out the sniper above the mine entrance first, as he can kill you in just one or two shots. Not to mention, if you choose a frontal assault, you'll be attacked by multiple enemies simultaneously. Use the bushes to sneak to the sniper's position and silently eliminate him. Then observe which enemies have guns and try to take them out with stealth as well. Don't miss the armed enemy hiding inside the wooden cabin. Once you've dealt with all the armed enemies, you can safely face the remaining enemies head-on with your favorite weapon.

Investigate the Baron's Men

Inside the mine, you'll encounter more of the Baron's men than infected, and many of them are armed. If you want to survive, it's best to have a few guns ready in your weapon wheel. It's recommended to equip an assault rifle and the shotgun you got from the 'A New Strain' mission (or even better if you have something superior). They'll be lifesavers in this mission. Try to use guns to eliminate armed enemies first, then close in with melee weapons to finish off the rest.

Traverse the Mine - UV Light Section

The path inside the mine is basically linear. As you progress, you'll encounter an area where infected are trapped by UV lights. If you want to loot supplies, simply lure them under the UV lights where they can't move, then quickly eliminate them. Continue forward and you'll reach another area where you'll face both the Baron's armed men and infected. Fortunately, the infected can't get past due to UV lights. But this time they're blocking the way, so after dealing with the Baron's men, either start clearing the infected or just run past them.
Traverse the Mine - UV Light Section

Traverse the Mine - Parkour Section

Here you'll encounter another parkour section, but since all ledges are marked, moving along the edges will be simple. You can start climbing from the ledge in the right front corner of the area. From this point on, you'll only encounter infected for a while, so you can temporarily forget about the Baron's men. But don't let your guard down, because there are actually two Brutes/Giants here and a large horde of infected that will give you a hard fight. I recommend just running through this area - I died here several times myself, and I don't think killing everyone is worth it at all.

The Baron's Stronghold - Stealth Required

Whether you chose to kill all the infected or run past them, eventually you'll encounter two more of the Baron's men. If you're playing in co-op mode, make sure to coordinate and silently eliminate them simultaneously. Once you enter the Baron's main base of operations in this cave, you'll find it packed with the Baron's men, most of whom are armed. A frontal assault is suicide, so you must use stealth to eliminate as many enemies as possible. Again, make sure you have guns in your weapon wheel, because once you're discovered, you won't survive here with melee weapons alone.

Activate the Terminal

After clearing the room, activate the terminal in the center of the room, next to the closed cell, to advance the mission. Make sure you've looted all the supplies in this area before proceeding, as you won't be able to return.

The Sheriff's Betrayal

Following our 'old friend' Largo from the Power Gambit mission, the Sheriff also decides to sell us out to the Baron. After the cutscene ends, climb out of the fence. On your right, there will be a parkour path to climb out of the area. Follow the path all the way, but don't rush too fast because you'll encounter a Volatile nest.

Escape the Volatile Nest

As soon as you see the nest, immediately turn off your flashlight and climb down to avoid being detected. Wait for them to leave, then carefully use the rocks as cover to sneak around the nest. Only turn on the flashlight for one or two seconds to see the path clearly - don't keep it on for long, or you might be spotted by the Volatiles. Once you reach a safe distance, you're free. Now you can run safely, and no other enemies will ambush you.
Escape the Volatile Nest

Return to Town Hall

After exiting the cave, you'll get a new objective: confront the Sheriff. Return to Town Hall and talk to Jacob, who will tell you the Sheriff has fled. This marks the end of the immediate danger, but the Sheriff's betrayal leaves many unanswered questions.
Return to Town Hall

Mission Complete - Rewards

This concludes the 'Vengeance Is Mine' mission. You'll receive Survivor Shoes, 10,000 XP, and 750 Old World Currency as rewards. If completed in co-op mode, you'll also receive an additional Co-op Loot Box. Despite the Sheriff's betrayal, you've survived one of the most challenging missions in The Beast and proven your skills against overwhelming odds.
