Mission Overview

After Kyle Crane successfully installed transmitters at all critical radio towers and the bell tower, and narrowly thwarted the Town Hall bombing plot, he receives contact from Olivia to prepare for the next Chimera hunt. To help everyone complete this main quest more smoothly, I've prepared a concise guide to assist you in defeating the Chimera boss in Dying Light: The Beast.
Mission Overview

Meet Olivia at Rendezvous Point

The first step of the mission is to head to the rendezvous point to meet Olivia, who is waiting in a vehicle. The journey is relatively far, but using vehicles you can find on the outskirts of town, reaching the destination shouldn't be a problem. During the meeting, Olivia will also tell Crane a key piece of information: these Chimeras are highly sensitive to specific stimuli. This intel might come in handy during the upcoming hunt.

Travel to the Forest

After meeting with Olivia, she'll provide crucial information about the Chimera's weakness to certain stimuli. This will be important for the upcoming battle. Prepare yourself mentally for another challenging Chimera encounter.

Find the Chimera

Fortunately, this time the Chimera's location is marked in a nearby forest. You can walk there if you wish. The target location is a stone circle park with relatively open terrain, suitable for a boss battle. Activating the boss follows a process similar to fighting the Behemoth in the 'A New Strain' mission: when Crane discovers a familiar device, the game will prompt us to find a gas canister to lure the Chimera out.
Find the Chimera

Locate the Gas Canister

You need to use your Survivor Sense skill to locate the gas canister. To save time, you can go directly to the bushes on the left side of the park (where there's an interactive investigation point). The specific location is marked in the image above. After finding it, place it in the device. In terms of battle preparation, similar to fighting previous Chimeras, there are no particularly complex requirements. Make sure to carry a powerful melee weapon, and consider bringing a shotgun to quickly clear Runners that spawn during the fight. Of course, basic supplies like bandages and grenades should also be well prepared.

Prepare for Battle

Before triggering the boss fight, make sure you're properly equipped: - A strong melee weapon for sustained damage - A shotgun to quickly eliminate spawning Runners - Plenty of bandages for healing - Grenades for crowd control - Molotov cocktails if available This fight will test your dodging skills and ability to manage multiple threats simultaneously.

Defeat the Toxin - Boss Introduction

This time's boss is the 'Toxin,' whose appearance inexplicably reminds one of Doctor Trager from Outlast. As the name suggests, its main attack method is using the spores on its back to throw toxic bombs at players. Additionally, this boss likes to hop around the arena like a frog to maintain distance. Its main threat comes from ranged toxic projectile attacks, and it will command other common infected on the field to coordinate attacks.

Defeat the Toxin - Attack Patterns

There are two main attack patterns to focus on: first, continuously throwing toxic spores from a distance; second, in rare close-quarters situations, it will spray toxic mist around itself or perform arm slashes. When the Toxin's health drops to about 50% and enters the second phase, you need to be more vigilant - it may summon Runner zombies. If you weren't thorough in clearing adds earlier, this phase will become especially tricky.

Defeat the Toxin - Combat Strategy

I recommend prioritizing the elimination of these adds and any Biters that might cause interference, to avoid being surrounded in this medium-difficulty battle. I don't recommend wasting precious gun ammunition here - using melee weapons for sustained damage is the better choice. If you're playing in co-op mode with friends, you can take turns using Beast Mode to quickly weaken the boss. When you successfully reduce the boss's health to below 10%, a finisher animation will trigger. After that, Crane will obtain another Chimera sample, as well as skill points for upgrading the Beast Mode skill tree.

Victory and Beast Point

After defeating the Toxin, you'll receive another Beast Point to upgrade your feral abilities. This continues your progression toward mastering the beast within. The Chimera samples you've been collecting are crucial for understanding and controlling your transformation abilities.
